The Landlord's guide to eviction.
Introduction
After several complaints from tenants and upper management, you get a phone call from the board; You're out. Naturally, you get mad. That's when you decided to wreak havoc and kick out every last tenant in the building.
Of course, no one likes that, and people are calling the cops on you, so be fast and finish the work day! There's a single mother of two out there to evict!
(Also get a therapist dude. Like, seriously.)
Controls
- Move – W, A, S, D
- Look around - Mouse
- Interact/Knock on doors – E
- Show door list - Tab
- Evict tenants – Type
IMPORTANT DISCLAIMER: If you find that you are unable to look around, please check your Google Chrome settings and check that mouse capturing is enabled for Itch.io as the game needs this in order to work. Furthermore, some browsers don't support this for some reason, so if you still can't fix it download the Windows/Linux executable respectively. This should fix the issue.

This game was made in 1 week for the Beginner's Jam Winter 2024, placed 3rd.
Play as an evil Landlord in this funny/parody typing game, and evict as many tenants from your apartment as possible!

A semi-large update post game jam, things started to break in the game-jam version on the website so I decided to push our current changes for everyone to enjoy! Here are some of the changes:
* Added a minimap
* Added windows
* Changed from Compatible to Forward+
* Improved the lighting
* Added more tutorial and guidance
* Added more intro dialogue
* Adjusted rooms to actually show better
* Added Sprint
* Tweaks to player
* Changed difficulty scaling, every 8-10 doors the tenants will have more names to make it harder
* Tweaked typing minigame so it waits for input before timer starts to go down
* Added instructions to guide player in typing minigame
* Fixed long names stretching off screen
* Adjusted tips for players who forget the stamping buttons
* Fixed a few more bugs and added a few more things!
Known Bugs:
We know these bugs exist and are working hard to fix them.
- The game doesn't work in some browsers.
- Rarely, some evictions score a 0 even if you completed them successfully. Bonus time is unaffected by this bug and is added as usual.

This is awesome! Took me a while til I realized you have to type the tenants name and not just spam lol. Art and visuals are nice and the movement feels really good.
Crashed it by stamping the eviction notices a bit too fast
Thanks for your feedback! We'll work on implementing a better tutorial in future versions. As for the stamping glitch we'll get working on fixing it.

Very nice and short game!
It took me a while to figure out that I had a list of rooms to visit because it wasn't directly stated in the game and was only on itch.io. I was just running around trying to open every door lmao
A few bugs/possible issues I found:
1. If I am walking when the game ends, the walking sound will continue to play
2. The starting timer says 2:00 until it magically changes to 3:12
Overall a great concept. I'm not a big fan of speedrunning games (and I type kinda slow), but this was fun!
Thanks! We didn't have time to add a proper tutorial to the game but this will come in future updates. As for the timer I'll report this with the other devs since we didn't really get this glitch to happen. And yeah sorry about the game over screen, since we were running out of time and had to rush that part. And by the way, it seems like you didn't read the guide that shows when you finish stamping but the tab list hint is shown there, and also how you can go back to stamping. We couldn't explain this properly but you can actually come back to the office to sign more eviction papers. Either way, thanks for your feedback!
Also I just realized, about the timer thing it changed because finishing stamping gives you time depending on how fast you did it. Theres a counter under the time left that shows whenever you earn time, in this case you earned 1:12 extra worth of time. Again just wanted to clear that up but yeah its intended

There's some sort of glitch going on with the list of eviction notices you're holding that leaves invalid notices in your inventory. Those addresses just don't work anymore, and you can't get rid of the eviction notices. As the game goes on it gets more and more corrupted. I managed to duplicate a J381 instance at the end of the list.

Could you please describe the glitch better? I was already aware of the duplicated rooms but I haven’t seen the corrupted addresses
